CareShield Life

CareShield Life is a government insurance scheme for individuals with severe disabilities or old age, providing financial support for home, rehabilitation and residential care, including assistance with daily activities. It is available to Singaporean and Permanent CareShield Life is a long-term care insurance scheme launched on 1 October 2020 which provides basic financial support should an individual become severely disabled. It provides lifetime monthly cash payouts that can be used to support ones personal and medical care needs over a prolonged duration.

All Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents, born in 1980 or later, will be automatically covered under CareShield Life from 1 October 2020, or when they turn 30. Those born between 1970 and 1979 who are insured under ElderShield 400 scheme and are not severely disabled will also be auto-enrolled onto CareShield Life from December 2021.
